| Hi,
Wish I would have bought 3 of these instead of NOISY COMPRESSOR TYPES. I have to run all 3 dehumidiers in my house almost continuously (2 Compressor types & this wonderful quiet SPT) to keep the humidity under 50% keeping the Mold growth at bay (Not Fun!) This quiet unit is perfect for the bedroom or living room and the added UV is a fanstastic plus. Also the current humidity readout on the unit is accurate! - checked against another gauge I have. Very Nice - would not hesitate to buy again! |
Very satisfied! |

| This unit has done more than I expected it to do. It has eliminated our moisture problems caused by a steamy bathroom without an exhaust vent. In addition, all of that heat stays in the house, not wasted to the outside, without a significant increase in electricity use! In addition, the first unit delivered arrived damaged. A quick call to Amazon resulted in a replacement shipped the same day and an easy RMA for the damaged unit, plus a notification via email when the RMA unit was received by Amazon!
Thanks Sunpentown & Amazon! |

| I just bought SPT SD-46T 46-Pint Dehumidifier a few days ago and I am more then pleased! After running 2 days I have already emptied the container 2x after being full. This unit is well built and runs perfect. The water container completely filled over night and helped bring our large bedroom to much drier conditions. It does a wonderful job at pulling water out of the air and returns a nice circulation of fresh air into the room. I am also pleased with the UV light as I notice my room has a much fresher smell. I will add more to this review in a few weeks. My main reason for buying this dehumidifier was to help with some mold issues and I will know how well this unit works on mild mold growth with some use. However for now I can tell with the way this Unit is working I can bet we will have satisfactory results for sure! Another thing I have noticed is my allergies have been much better, I am not as plugged up when I wake in the morning after leaving the Dehumidifier run during the night !
Far as noise goes it does hum!! But I love White Noise while I sleep . I suppose for those who do not like the louder hum you can always use the lower fan setting. I use mine on full blast! To anyone who has complained about this unit, I am a bit baffled because I just don't see anything wrong with this unit. WORKS TERRIFIC ! Pulls water out of the air extremely well and fast . I may even buy a second one for our down stairs! Hope my review helps! |

| Really like the size of this unit and it starts right up when you plug it in. Easy to operate and move to any location n the house. It is quiet for a dehumidifier. Only complaint is that the plastic shield to direct air flow is flimsy. We tried to redirect the flow and it fell off. When you try to put it back on it is difficult and one pin broke. Luckily the shield is more window dressing, as the unit works well without it. It has a nice extra feature of an ionizer to purify the air. Not sure if this really works, but we have all breathed easier since we have run this dehumidifier in our home. |
A dehumidifier that eliminated all the mold from our house. |

| Worked great in our house that we recently purchased, since our place had damp areas where mold was growing. We got rid of the mold by thoroughly cleaning the area and this dehumidifier helps to keep them from growing back. The UV light works great eliminating bacteria that may lay around our house, keeping our family and our dog healthier. |
Almost perfect |

| I've had this dehumidifier for 4 days and have already emptied the bin 4 times, so I know it's working. The controls are simple to use, and it's very easy to remove and replace the bin. My only negative comments are that it's not very quiet - the fan has been on constantly and it's louder than I anticipated. Also, to keep my humid basement at 50% humidity I have to empty the bin before I go to sleep and before I leave for work to prevent it from filling up and shutting off. I'll have to rig up a hose... |

| When I first got the product it was raining for a couple weeks straight and also leaking for a couple weeks straight in my basement, and the product didn't really seem to help at the time (humidity was over 75% constantly) even though I ran it almost 24/7. Once it stopped raining the unit still filled up just as fast (roughly every 14-18 hours) and it started lowering the humidity. It has been fairly dry besides scattered thunderstorms the past couple weeks and the humidity is now down to 45%. So for a medium/large sized basement or very leaky basement, you may want to invest in a dehumidifier with a better rate. Overall if you have a decently sealed basement, or a small one/small room this product is great, however; I would recommend getting the additional hose if you will run it constantly, so you don't have to keep dumping the bucket. |
It does a good job |

| I bought this dehumidifier after going over the customer reviews. My basement is small but it had started traces of mildew. After I received this dehumidifier from Amazon, it was relatively easy to hook it up and get it running. I accumulate about a full container every 12 hours and that's just about what I need to keep my 600 square foot basement dry. What I like the most about is that it is quiet and has digital display for controls including humidity level. The UV feature is great if it does the job it claims. I have had it for two weeks so I cannot say much about its reliability. The only downside compared to my older dehumidifier is that it does not have a drain valve for automatic drain and I have to manually empty the tank. |
Lacking some features |

| We are a military family living in Okinawa, Japan and the climate here is subtropical and the humidity is always very high. Mold and mildew are a common occurance here. The dehumidifier does the job and works well although I wish it had a timer that you could set to run for an alloted amount of time or either that it would run like a temp controlled AC/unit. Considering the price I wish it had more options. |
Worked fine for two summer seasons, but now started icing |

| SPT SD-46T 46-Pint Dehumidifier, purchased 3 years ago.
Good: Quiet on LOW, slick design, UV lamp, fancy red light when bucket is full, energy efficient - using "rotary compressor", etc. Bad: Developing heavy icing after two seasons of use. Humidity indicator was not accurate, it reads about 10-15% less then it should. I used this unit in my finished basement for two summer seasons. It worked fine and was quiet on Low. It kept humidity at 55% working continuously and bucket was full in 24 hours. I was not able to get humidity any lower. Maybe I needed more powerful unit. At the end of the second summer season ice started to develop on coils. Ambient temp was about 70 F. To fix icing I did everything what usually recommended: I cleaned filters, coils, put fan on HIGH, used additional external fan. Nothing helped - ice started to develop in 1 hour of work. Unit is supposed to have a de-icier, but it apparently was not working. I 'goggled' the problem - experts say that refrigerant might be low. As we may not recharge it SPT SD-46T 46-Pint Dehumidifier might go to trash soon. Week ago I ordered Danby 70, which just as quiet and able to keep my basement at 45% when running continuously. So far - so good. Maybe this one will go to trash in two ears too :-). |
Do not buy. This dehumidifier is quiet, but it does not collect much water. |

| I purchased this unit based on the manufacturer's claims of quiet operation and a 46-pint capacity. I had purchased a Kenmore 50-pint unit from Sears, but I was not happy with the noise level of that unit.
I was impressed with the SD-46T's noise level. Very quiet. The UV light seemed to be a good idea, though I am not sure how to verify it is killing bacteria. When I receive the SD-46T, I decided to compare the performance with the Kenmore machine for a few days. I placed them side by side and monitored the water levels. After 2 days, the Kenmore machine was full. The SD-46T, with a much smaller tank, was less than half full. I continued the side-by-side comparison for a few more days, and found the same result. Sears/Kenmore = Full, but noisy SD-46T = Small amount of water, but quiet. I chose to keep the noisy Kenmore that dehumidifies very well, and I returned the SD-46T. Amazon's return system is awesome! I completed the return form on-line, printed the pre-paid shipping label, then dropped it off a PacMail. Very convenient. |
Busted Product & Company REFUSED to Resend |

| The product arrived and was covered in goo. After determining it was broken, I requested the company send another one to my home address (the original was sent to my work address). Sunpentown refused to send a replacement of the product, even when I said it could be delivered to the original address. I was the object of multiple accusations by the company representative of my breaking the product, along with derogatory comments about me because of my complaint about the broken product. After a week, the company reimbursed the full charge after threatening not to.
I bought a Frigidaire 50-Pint Dehumidifier from Lowes, and couldn't be happier. |
