I received this dehumidifier a few weeks ago for use in my basement apartment that had gotten damp with all the rain this summer. It has been running non-stop since. It works great! I have been rotating it around the apartment into different rooms that need to dry out and it quickly fills up with water after a few hours beeps and I empty the bucket. the only drawback is that is does give off a lot of heat, which I guess all dehumidifiers do, but I still gave it 5 stars!
So Far so Great!

It's been two months since I've purchased this dehumidifier and worried (after some dehumidifier reviews) of the possible quick breakdown, I'm happy to say it's still running strong and has taken care of the mold and moisture in our medium sized bedroom and bath. The fan does make some noise but even our cat, who jumps at the sound of...anything, has gotten used to it. No more moldy hats and it still works...seems like a great product to me!
Kind of noisy, but works well

I use this unit in the garage to reduce humidity (obviously). I wouldn't want it in the living room or bedroom, it's pretty loud when running. It's an Energy Star unit - but the difference in my electric bill during peak usage over the winter was easily noticable. But I have never used another one, so I can't really compare. It has withstood lots of usage since I bought it several months ago. It is simple as possible to use. I filled up the 30-pint bucket many, many times. Usually during the rainy season (Seattle, so that's about 8 months out of the year!) if I used it several hours a day it would fill up over just a day or two. So it really does the trick in pulling moisture out of the air. It wheels around, which is nice, even though it isn't that heavy for me it might be for certain people.
Well worth it!!

After a month of damp clothes, sheets and air, I decided I needed to purchase a dehumidifier, I went to Home Depot and they had only humidifiers. I went to a local hardware store and they had a 30 Pint dehumidifier for $270.00. I decided to look on Amazon and found the Soleus Air. It works perfect. In the first 24 hours of running, it removed 45 pints of water. That is almost two pints per hour. People might complain about the fan noise but they have to realize that any fan is going to make some noise. I feel that this one is no louder then one of those plug in square fans. It also has three settings which allows you to adjust the noise somewhat. The timer is great as well. I will go to bed and set it to run for two more hours. I don't even notice it turning off.
I did not get the extra tubes for the water to leave the container so once the container is full, it automatically turns off and I have to empty it before it can run again. But by the time it has pulled 30 pints out, the room feels much drier any way, and I don't mind it turning itself off, since I like to save electricity. I have seen no increase in the energy bill either.
All in all, I think a dehumidifier from $150.00 to $250.00 will do the same amount of work and sound just the same. Anything over $250.00 with a bigger pint capacity may be different but I am not sure. Price does not equate to quietness and or satisfaction. But when looking at around 20 to 35 pints, the Soleus Air is well worth it when it comes to price and satisfaction.

this little wonder does a great job. I use it in my 20x40 man cave and it keeps it very dry. It is a little noisy for my taste and when we are occupying it I usually shut it down becuase of the fan noise. Also if it is running the room temperature rises a few degrees over the week. We like it when its 67-68 degrees and if it is on all week the temperature stays around 71. I attached a garden hose to it and it has worked flawlessly over last month.
It's helping, but not solving our moisture problem.

We have a damp basement and were experiencing some mold, so we bought this dehumidifier and hooked up a hose and turned it on about a month ago. It's run for a solid month and has not reached the percentage we set (50%), but it has kept the humidity between 60-65% (took it about three days to get from 75% to 60/65% reliably).
The basement definitely feels a lot better, so it's helping.
I've never had a dehumidifier and so I'm not sure how poor a performance this is, but it's so big and heavy I can't imagine shipping it back. I bought the smaller sized unit thinking that the only difference between that and the larger was the size of the bucket, but I do wonder if it just needs a more powerful motor. The size of the room we're working with is less than 300 sq ft, but it's connected to another room via a doorway that does not have a door that's another 300 sq ft.

The unit arrived with one wheel smashed, but Soleus customer service was remarkable fast on the phone and they assure me a wheel will arrive here in three days. LOUSY packaging.
Do not buy, does not register humidity correctly

We researched many dehumidifiers and bought this one. Stupidly, we bought it from Newegg which won't accept a return like Amazon would. THis unit is nice looking, and seemed to meet our needs. There are two main problems:
1. The humidistat does not detect the humidity correctly, the machine thinks it is 50% humidity at all times, even when our tried-and-true meter says 20%. The result is that this unit runs constantly.
2. The collection bucket is way too small. We have to empty it twice a day. This may not be as big of a problem except for #1.
We have not contacted Soleus yet, because it will cost us $40 to ship it back to them for a replacement unit.
