Despite the negative review of this product, I decided to try it since it had all the features I was looking for. Especially the pump. I bought this for my Mom who recently moved and the basement was damp and smelly. The previous owner left a Sears dehumidifier but it did not remove a drop of water from the air. I had an old Edison one that I lent my Mom. It worked fine but if you didn't put the bucket in the exact proper position, it would overflow. Since my Mom is a senior citizen, I wanted one that would automatically pump the water into the utility sink she had in the basement. So, this Delonghi met this important criteria to me.
After about three weeks of use, I have nothing but praise for this product. It is very quiet and has a long hose. It can pump the water up to ten feet high and it does this magnificently. You can also program it and adjust the amount of humidity you want to remove.
The basement no longer smells and you can set this dehumidifier up and forget about it. It removes a lot of water within a short period of time (depending on the humidity level you set it for and the amount in the air) and then shuts off when it reaches the setting. Since we got it we have not had to even concern ourselves with it at all. There was absolutely no problem setting it up. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The unit arrived when expected and packing was good. Unit was easy to set up and start. It removed over 1 gallon per day for the first few days until I plumbed it to gravity flow into a drain. I assume it is still removing about the same from a damp basement room. The problem with condensation has stopped and a humitity meter shows <60% humidity being maintained.
NO BUCKET TO EMPTY w/ BUILT-IN PUMP!

Easy to setup and program (I had no need to use timer so I can not comment on that). Pump with long clear plastic hose (only about 1/4 inch in diameter) is not very conspicuous and works great. I have the hose going up about three feet out a window and it works perfectly. If you do not have a drain nearby the pump and hose feature is much better than having to empty a bucket every day or two (it is long enough to reach a window easily and narrow enough to drill an inconspicuous hole to the outside). I really like the digital readout and ability to set the humidly level (i.e. 40%, 45%, 50%, 55%, etc). Only thing I would change is the fact that they mounted the hose for the pump out the front of the unit (I unscrewed the mounting plate so I could have it slip out the side).
Everything you could want in a dehumidifier

I used this dehumidifier to help with a chronically damp basement and am pleased to say that it was excellent. Never having to empty buckets of dirty water is nice, as well as the energy saving features that keep costs down when I am letting this run all day and all night.
Great dehumidifier

I admit I was reluctant given some of the negative reviews I saw, but my experience was very good. The product arrived on time, set-up took maybe 5 minutes, and it works great. I'm trying to dry out a wet basement and there are two dehumidifiers at work. This one removes much more water than the other -- plus you know where you stand because it shows you the relative humidity in the room vs. what you want it to be.

Great unit, works perfect. I was a little concerned about the noise level and was greatly satified that the unit performs at a low noise level. I would reccommend this dehumidifier.

After going thru 2 dehumidfiers in about 10 years (the last one was a Whirlpool piece of garbage) I can honestly say this one is a gem. It works beautifully, not any noisier than any other unit (I dont think any of them are really very quiet) BUT since I run it in my basement, noise isnt a factor anyway.
The humidstat works great (shuts off and on according to the humidity level) and it dried up VISIBLE moisture (as I said, my Whirlpool dehumidifier didnt work for s*#t) in less than 48 hours.
For the first time ALL SUMMER, my basement is actually DRY.
So far, so good, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality dehumidifier.

This DeLonghi dehumidifier comes with a built-in pump so you do not have to empty the collected water. It was easy to set up and started decreasing the humidity in my basement immediately. Within a day or two it dropped the humidity from over 70 percent down to the target I set of 50 percent. I have been using it about two months. It runs automatically maintaining the target humidity I set. I am happy with it and would buy the same model again.

If instructions are followed, it should last quite a long time. I will be honest, I had to go back and check out what could be wrong when I noticed that my unit was not pumping at the beginning of the second season, so I took a peek inside and discovered that at the end of the earlier season the hose attached to the filter needs to be drained. I did such and it has been working fine for more than 2 years now :0)
Thank you DeLonghi

I had purchase 2 dehumidifiers in the past and was happy with job they did, but was not happy with the noise levels or that I had to constantly empty a bucket of water that would sometimes spill out before I got to the sink. Then I got the DeLonghi with it's built in pump. What a pleasure this unit is. It is very quite and with a push of a button I can pump out the collected water so I never have to bend over and carry a full receptacle of water again.

I am considering whether to buy this product, and should address an earlier review (by someone else) about this product.
40 pints equals 5 gallons. Please measure how much space this will occupy!
The unit dimensions place the unit's physical voume between 2 and 3 cubic feet. 1 cu. ft. of water is 7.5 gallons approximately, so the volume of the unit would indicate between 15 and 22 gallons of water. However, the unit has to house the mechanism/motor etc., so the actual cubic footage of the water holding unit MUST be less (no more than 1 cu.ft). This implies a maximum holding capacity of 7.5 gallons = 60 pints.
We want DEhumidification, so why store that much water in a pail? Since the water is being drained (via gravity or pump), the pail can be much smaller/lighter.
How much water is extracted will depend on the relative humidity indoors and ongoing external conditions (rain).
A 40-pint holding capacity unit will weigh a lot more than 30 pounds without the water!

I read all the negative reviews and almost didn't buy this product, but I really didn't want to keep emtying buckets of water from my dehumidifier so I thought I would try it. It turns out this product works great! It's quieter than my old dehumidifier, it pumps the water out my basement window, the basement is dry - I have it set on 40% and it maintains it with no problem. The only issue I have is that if the power goes out, you have to turn the unit back on again manually - this can be a problem when you go away on vacation.
It May NOT Be The PUMP

Like a lot of you, we bought the Delonghi strictly because of the pump feature. The dehumidifier worked great for the first season. It removed at least 5 gallons of water per day (my husband used a 5 gal water jug to measure). The next season the pump did not work. So, my husband took the Delonghi apart (fairly straight forward to remove the two clam shell type covers...at the top where the clams meet, one must press down on the one shell ( the one without controls) to release it from the other). Removal of the pump was straight forward. It has an input line that connects between the pump and the small reservoir with a float solenoid, the purpose of which is to cut the pump circuit off and alert you with a beeping that the pump is not working and that the little reservoir is not full and dumping into the big one. The small reservoir overflows into the larger one that can be dumped. [...]We tested the pump and found it working within specifications. We noticed that BETWEEN the inlet of the pump and the outlet of the small reservoir there is a small, clear plastic inline filter, the purpose of which is to protect the pump from debris. This filter was totally clogged and the reason why the pump could not function. We backflushed the filter and checked out the pump system...worked as it did the first season. BUT who wants to take apart the Delonghi when the filter becomes clogged. And it will become clogged because of mold, slim, dirt, etc. It needs to be outside the clam shell case...like the air filter is. So we drilled a hole in the bottom of the Delonghi base plate near the exit hole for the hose between the outlet of the pump and the exterior coupling for the long run hose provided by Delonghi. So now the configuration is as follows. The outlet hose from the small reservoir penetrates the base plate and the small plastic filter is then connect to this hose. The outlet hose of the small plastic filter is then run back inside the Delonghi and connected to the pump. To run this hose back into the Delonghi, we used the existing hole for the outlet hose of the pump. Now we can easily clean the filter as it becomes clogged.

They are working to keep 20 Steinway concert grand pianos nice and dry here at our music conservatory and so far they all seem to be working after two summer seasons. The pumps are pumping to a height of about 13' in each room without a problem.
Works very well, but instructions are confusing.

Using this dehumidifer with pump is great! However, it took a little time to figure out the correct way to attach correct hose to pump. Blue cap is covering the connection for the long hose to pump water out of room. The instructions dont tell you that. They say to drill hole in bucket for allowing water to go down drain. If you want to use pump, do not drill!
In the month that has gone by it is working great!

It works to catch about 40 pints water a day in my basement. I then used the pump and pumped the water over 6 feet and got about 20 pints of water a day.
The only drawback is a strager smell it created. Could not understand why.
Satisfied generally.

I HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE PUMP TO WORK AS ADVERTISED. IT WILL PUMP TO A FLOOR DRAIN BUT NOT TO A 4' HIGH DRAIN PIPE I SET UP FOR MY WASHER. I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. I FELT THEY COULD BE A LOT CLEARER. IT RUNS FAIRLY QUIET. A LITTLE TRICKEY IN CHANGING THE FILTER. TECH SUPPORT WAS POLITE AND INFORMATIVE.
